TING 1% Athlete’s Foot Spray Recalled Due to Elevated Benzene Levels
Insight Pharmaceuticals is recalling two lots of TING 1% Tolnaftate Athlete’s Foot Spray Antifungal Spray Liquid due to elevated levels of benzene discovered during a recent review by their manufacturer and third-party lab. While benzene is not an ingredient, it was found in the propellant of the affected lots (0H50545 and 1G50645). No other TING 1% Tolnaftate Athlete’s Foot Spray products are affected.
Benzene is a human carcinogen, and exposure can lead to serious health issues, including various cancers. The affected lots were distributed nationwide in the United States through limited retailers and online platforms.
As of now, the company has not received any reports of serious adverse events related to this recall. The recalled product is used for the treatment of athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm, providing relief from itchy, scaly skin between the toes.
Consumers with the affected lots are advised to stop using the product immediately, safely discard it after taking a picture of the can’s bottom, and contact their healthcare provider if they experience any problems related to the product. Insight Pharmaceuticals is offering a full refund for affected consumers.
For reimbursement, consumers can contact Insight Pharmaceuticals via email at medicalaffairs@prestigebrands.com, through their website, or by phone at (800) 344-7239 (Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Eastern Time).
