A groundbreaking over-the-counter solution for erectile dysfunction, potentially surpassing the speed of conventional pills, has received approval in the United States. The topical gel, known as Eroxon, enables users to achieve an erection within just 10 minutes and has already been accessible without a prescription in Europe.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted its approval for Eroxon on Friday, acknowledging its status as a pioneering treatment. Futura Medical, a British pharmaceutical company specializing in transdermal drug delivery, manufactures Eroxon.
According to the product’s accompanying leaflet, Eroxon employs a distinctive physical cooling and warming effect to enhance blood flow in the penis, facilitating the attainment and maintenance of a sufficiently firm erection for sexual activity. Futura Medical states on the product’s website that 65% of individuals who used Eroxon were able to engage in sexual intercourse successfully.
Although the price of the product in the U.S. has not been finalized, a company spokesperson informed CNN that its equivalent cost in the United Kingdom is approximately $31. Futura Medical has yet to announce the specific availability date of Eroxon in the U.S. market.
Harvard Health indicates that approximately 30 million people in the United States experience erectile dysfunction, a condition characterized by the inability to achieve an erection or maintain one firm enough for sexual intercourse. This disorder is often associated with other physical or mental health issues, such as cardiovascular problems or obstructed arteries.
According to data from Harvard Health, erectile dysfunction affects 1% of men in their 40s, 17% of men in their 60s, and nearly 50% of men aged 75 or older.
