Broncol Syrup: Ingredients, Uses, Dosage, Side Effects

Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup is a drug containing a combination of Ammonium chloride, Dexpanthenol, and Dextromethorphan HBr. It is used for Cough, Cough relief, Skin itching, and flaking. Mirren manufactures Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup.

Coughing is a common reflex action that clears your throat of mucus or foreign irritants. While everyone coughs to clear their throat from time to time, a number of conditions can cause more frequent coughing. A cough that lasts for less than three weeks is an acute cough.

How Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup works?

Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup contains Ammonium Chloride, Dexpanthenol, and Dextromethorphan Hbr as active ingredients, it works by increasing the excretion of extracellular electrolytes and water out of the body; decreasing the acetylcholine synthesis; providing relief from cough.

How should I take Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup?

Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor. If you are self-treating, follow all directions on the product package. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

This medication may be taken with food if a stomach upset occurs. Drink plenty of fluids unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

Carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose. If your liquid form is a suspension, shake the bottle well before each dose.

Dosage is based on the product you are taking and your age, medical condition, and response to treatment. Do not increase your dose or take this medication more often than directed without your doctor’s approval. Improper use (abuse) of this medication may result in serious harm.

If your doctor directs you to take this medication daily, take it regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time(s) each day.

Tell your doctor if your cough persists for more than 1 week, if it worsens, or if it occurs with fever, rash, or persistent headache. These may be symptoms of a serious medical problem and should be checked by a doctor.

What are the side effects of Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup?

The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible but do not always occur. Some of the side effects may be rare but serious.

Consult your doctor if you observe any of the following side effects, especially if they do not go away.

•          Drowsiness

•          Injection site reactions

•          Rash

•          Fever

•          Irregular breathing

•          Bradycardia

What drugs can interact with Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup?

If you use other drugs or over-the-counter products at the same time, the effects of Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup may change. This may increase your risk for side effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that your doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions.

Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup may interact with the following drugs and products:

•          Methadone

•          Monoamine oxidase inhibitors

•          Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors

Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup – Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup is a contraindication. In addition, Broncol Cough Linctus Syrup should not be used if you have the following conditions:

•          Hypersensitivity

•          Metabolic alkalosis with loss of sodium bicarbonate

•          Severe liver impairment

•          Severe renal impairment.
