Florida Doctor Arrested For Illegally Distributing Opioids

MIAMI – A South Florida doctor has been arrested on charges of illegally distributing opioids at his pain management clinic.

According to court documents, Dr. Daniel Alberto Carpman, 70, of Miami, allegedly engaged in the unlawful distribution of oxycodone at his pain management clinic, Daniel Carpman MD Medical Center. The indictment alleges that Dr. Carpman conspired to illegally distribute opioids with two other individuals, both of whom have already pleaded guilty for their roles in re-selling the oxycodone acquired at Dr. Carpman’s pain management clinic.

Dr. Carpman is charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute opioids and four counts of illegally distributing opioids. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison on each count. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
