What is Ampitrexyl?

Ampitrexyl is a proprietary blend of vitamins and mineral produced by ProMex LLC. It comes in two forms; an Ampitrexyl 500 mg capsules and Ampitrexyl Plus 1000mg that contains Andrographis Paniculata, Sambucus Nigra Fruit Extract, Vitamin C, Zinc Gluconate, Corydalis Extract, Echinacea Powder and Bee Propolis as ingredients.

Ampitrexyl plus

Ampitrexyl 500 mg capsules and Ampitrexyl Plus 1000mg are regulated as dietary supplements. Dietary supplements are regulated by the FDA as food, not as drugs. However, many dietary supplements contain ingredients that have strong biological effects which may conflict with a medicine you are taking or a medical condition you may have. The maximum recommended daily dosage of Ampitrexyl is 3 servings per day for adults, preferably with a meal.

Is Ampitrexyl the same as amoxicillin?

No, Ampitrexyl 500 mg capsules and Ampitrexyl Plus 1000mg are not the same as amoxicillin. Ampitrexyl is a proprietary blend of vitamins and mineral while amoxicillin is an antibiotic used to treat a number of bacterial infections. These include middle ear infection, strep throat, pneumonia, skin infections, and urinary tract infections among others.

What is Ampitrexyl 500 mg capsules and Ampitrexyl Plus 1000mg used for?

According to the promoters of these products, Ampitrexyl helps to promote overall health, and helps support the immune system. Ampitrexyl contains a combination of natural herbs, plant-based mixtures, antioxidants (vitamin-c) + sambucus, zinc, echinacea & bee propolis to help support the immune system.

Can Ampitrexyl 500 mg and Ampitrexyl Plus 1000mg cure infections?

No, Ampitrexyl 500 mg and Ampitrexyl Plus 1000mg are not antibiotics, and as such should never be used as primary agents for fighting bacterial, fungal or viral infections. Ampitrexyl should also not be used as the primary agent for fighting tooth infections or sexually transmitted diseases (STD). Nevertheless, they can be used as an adjunct medication to support recovery. Studies have shown that multivitamins and mineral supplements can reduce the mean annual number of days spent with infection.

What are the side effects of Ampitrexyl 500 mg and Ampitrexyl Plus 1000mg capsules?

Ampitrexyl capsules can cause side effects. Some side effects are more likely to occur than others when you’re taking multivitamins. These include:

  • constipation
  • diarrhea
  • upset stomach
  • nausea

Although often perceived as ‘naturally safe’, herb containing supplements like Ampitrexyl may cause severe adverse drug reactions (ADRs), with immediate allergic reactions being particularly life threatening. Do not take Ampitrexyl if you are allergic to Andrographis Paniculata, Sambucus Nigra Fruit Extract,  Corydalis Extract, Echinacea and Bee Propolis.

Ampitrexyl Safety Information

While the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is charged with overseeing dietary supplements such as Ampitrexyl, there is no safety testing or FDA approval required before a new supplement goes on the market. In addition, there are no requirements that dietary supplement packaging list potential adverse effects, nor are there standards for maximum pill size (a clear risk for older people).

Health care providers also may neglect to ask patients about the use of over-the-counter or natural dietary supplements. Without that information, they may not recognize that any signs and symptoms their patients may be experiencing could be related to these products.

To be sure, some dietary supplements can be beneficial. That’s because these products contain active ingredients — molecules that interact at receptors in our body and cause physiological changes. However, because they contain active ingredients, they can also cause unwanted effects, such as elevated blood pressure, racing or irregular heartbeat, headache, dizziness, or digestive symptoms.

Staying healthy requires a multifaceted approach to self-care. Being aware and knowledgeable about any supplement including Ampitrexyl, whether it is advertised as natural, herbal, or non-drug is part of that care.

If you do choose to take Ampitrexyl, always read any safety labels that are included with the packaging. Ask a pharmacist, your doctor, or a nurse to review everything you take to ensure that Ampitrexyl will not cause harmful effects, either alone or in combination with regularly prescribed or over-the-counter drugs. If you do develop concerning symptoms after taking Ampitrexyl, stop taking it and call your doctor. You can buy Ampitrexyl on Amazon
