Baycuten HC Cream: Uses, How it works, Side Effects, Warnings

Baycuten HC is a brand of clotrimazole + hydrocortisone, a broad spectrum antifungal, and anti-inflammatory cream. Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal that acts against dermatophytes, yeasts, molds, and other fungi. Clotrimazole works by killing the fungus (yeast) that is causing the infection. Clotrimazole kills fungus by causing holes to appear in its cell membrane and the contents leaks out. This kills the fungus and treats the infection.

Hydrocortisone is a mild topical steroid that reduces the swelling, redness, and itching associated with inflammation of the skin. It works by calming down your body’s immune response to reduce pain, itching, and swelling (inflammation).

Baycuten HC is recommended for the treatment and relief of symptoms of fungal nappy rash, inflamed athlete’s foot, jock itch, and fungal skin rash. Each gram of Baycuten HC cream contains 10mg clotrimazole and 11.2mg hydrocortisone acetate (equivalent to 10mg hydrocortisone).

How long does the treatment take?

The recommended treatment time varies from 1 to 4 weeks depending on the condition. The symptoms of the skin infection, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment with all Baycuten HC. Signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear. If your symptoms do not improve or worsen after using an athlete’s foot treatment, please consult your doctor.

How to use Baycuten HC

Apply a thin, even layer of Baycuten HC to the affected area and rub it gently, twice a day. Use only until inflammation, itching, and redness have subsided and not more than 7 days, then use an anti-fungal cream, such as Clotrimazole Anti-fungal cream for 14 days after symptoms disappear to help avoid recurrence of the infection.
